Don’t worry, Gary (Kirsten), says former Pakan President after his FIR joke | Cricket News
Former Pakan President Arif Alvi on Monday reacted to the reports surfacing that national cricket team head coach Gary Kirsten has said to the players that there is no unity in the team.
Alvi responding via Twitter, reacted with a pun on the situation. “For us in Pakan there is an easy solution to this serious allegation. This is an attack on the solidarity & integrity of Pakan. We have information from credible sources (cipher) that cannot be revealed that he is working under the direct influence of foreign interests against our ideology. The patron of the PCB has ordered immediate action that includes regration of FIRs in all the cricket playing centers of Pakan and his name is put on the ECL,” Alvi wrote before clearing the air.
“For Gary! Dont worry the above is just a pun. Do your best to salvage our beleaguered cricket team,” he added.
Alvi’s comments come after it was reporting Pakan media that Kirsten had handed the team a stern talk following the early exit from the T20 World Cup, calling out players on not supporting each other.
On Sunday, following the win against Ireland, skipper Babar Azam was also the centre of attention for his post-match comments. With questions raised against his captaincy, Babar said, “We win and lose as a team. You are pointing out that [I am] the captain, but I cannot play in every player’s place. There are 11 players, and each of them has a role. That’s why they came here to play the World Cup. I think we have not been able to play well as a team. We have to settle down and accept that we didn’t play well as a team.”
Despite finishing the tournament on consecutive wins, Pakan were knocked out of the first round owing to defeats in their first two games – against USA and India.
Against Ireland, the team played their final group stage game against Ireland, with the fate of Group A already having been decided.
Chasing 107, Pakan finished the game with three wickets in hand and seven balls to spare.
