Duleep Trophy 2024: Siraj, Umran Malik out due to illness; Ravindra Jadeja released | Cricket News
India Test pacer Mohammed Siraj and speedster Umran Malik have been released from the first round squads of the season-opening Duleep Trophy in September.The BCCI has announced that both Siraj and Umran have been omitted due to illness with seamer Navdeep Saini and Puducherry pacer Gaurav Yadav named replacements. Gaurav, who has also represented Madhya Pradesh, was among the highest wicket-taking pacers last Ranji Trophy season.
Meanwhile, spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been released from one of the four squads that will feature in the tournament.
Four teams, namely India A, India B, India C and India D will feature in the tournament this time, scrapping the previous system of zonal squads.
Duleep Trophy 2024-25: Dates and VenuesThe upcoming Duleep Trophy will predominantly be played at two venues within the Anantapur Cricket Ground complex in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
One of the opening round matches on September 5 will be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
