Education must impart values, knowledge, skills: Chouhan

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the aim of education should be to impart knowledge, skills and values of citizenship. The new education policy takes care of these three things. It will be implemented in Madhya Pradesh. Vocational education will be imparted from Class VI.

Chouhan said that education does not mean cramping like a parrot, being burdened with the weight of bags and giving exams. Education should reflect the natural development of children and their talents. For this, special attention should be paid to the teaching and training of teachers.

Chouhan on Friday inaugurated a national seminar on ‘Shikshak Shiksha ka Kayakalp’ organized by Vidya Bharati Higher Education Institute at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration. Minister of State for School Education (Independent Charge) Inder Singh Parmar, Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Professor Kailash Chandra Sharma, Dattatreya Hosbale and Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Prof. M. Jagdish Kumar etc. were present. Chief Minister Chouhan also released a book ‘Shiksha Path Pradipika’ during the programme.

Chouhan said that imparting education is not just the responsibility of the government. Society too should extend support in imparting education. Institutions like Vidya Bharati are doing good work in this area.

Institutions doing well in the field of education should be encouraged.

The Chief Minister clearly said that educational institutions should not confuse students by teaching them unreasonable things. If an institution imparts wrong education, it will be controlled. We cannot allow them to create terrorists. Opening of inadequate schools will not do.

Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state where a task force has been formed to implement the new education policy. Various academicians of the state should be added, who should give suggestions on how to implement the provisions of the new education policy in Madhya Pradesh in a practical way.

Recalling his primary school teacher at Jait village Ratan Chand Jain, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said that the education imparted by him is of utmost importance in my life. He used to teach Ramcharit Manas to the students every Saturday.

‘This not only made me a orator, but also inspired me to follow values set by Bhagwan Sri Rama’ in my life. Education is meaningless without morality. Education makes man a human being and frees from ignorance.
