Election Commission orders voters list check in 91 Madhya Pradesh seats
BHOPAL: The Election Commission has ordered verification of voter lists in 91 constituencies of Madhya Pradesh after Congress objected to its clean chit to the electoral rolls after surveying only four constituencies. For the first time ever, surveyors will go door to door and take the signature of every voter they verify.
On June 3, Congress had complained that there were 60 lakh ‘bogus voters’ in MP. The EC then sent probe teams to four constituencies and announced on June 8 that the Congress allegation was untrue. On June 13, Congress moved EC, raising several objections to the June 8 report. Meanwhile the BJP legal cell has lodged a complaint with Election Commission against Congress for “demeaning” a constitutional body like the EC and “misleading” the public. It sought action against Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia.
