Elon Musk’s father reveals his son interested in buying Liverpool; FSG say not looking to sell

Elon Musk’s father Errol Musk has revealed in an interview that this billionaire son was interested in buying English Premier League club Liverpool.
Talking about Liverpool and his son’s interest in buying the club, Errol Musk said in an interview with Times Radio: “I can’t comment on that. They’ll raise the price.”
Then, when he was pushed for an answer, Errol Musk added: “Oh yes, but that doesn’t mean he’s buying it. Elon would like to, yes, obviously, anybody would want to. So would I.”
The Premier League club, which is currently leading in the Premier League standings at the halfway stage, is privately owned Fenway Sports Group (FSG). The Merseyside club won its first English Premier League title in 30 years in 2020 — one season after winning the Champions League title.
FSG purchased the team for £300 million in 2010. FSG has not indicated it wants to sell the club. But it must be noted that the group has accepted external investment in the past. In September 2023, FSG sold a minority stake to US investment firm Dynasty Equity.
After Errol Musk’s comments raised speculation about Elon Musk’s intentions, The Associated Press contacted FSG and were told a spokesperson for the group said there was “No truth to these rumours.” Meanwhile, Sky Sports reported that FSG have not received any approaches for the club.
Forbes rated Liverpool as the fourth most valuable club with an estimated value of £4.3 billion.
Errol Musk said they have relatives in Liverpool and that “we were fortunate enough to know quite a few of the Beatles because they grew up with us — my family.”
The Tesla CEO is currently a leading figure in US politics after being appointed US President Donald Trump to lead newly-announced advisory team called the Department of Government Efficiency, or “Doge”.
Elon Musk has gotten himself involved in German and British politics. In UK, since the center-left Labour Party was elected in July, Musk has used his social network, X, to call for a new election.
