Emilia Perez, The Brutal, Shogun emerge big winners; All We Imagine As Light misses the cut

Golden Globes Award 2025 Highlights: The Golden Globes 2025 was underway at Beverly Hills, California, where the who’s who of Hollywood descended to celebrate the best of 2024. Often known as the awards, which acts as a precursor for the things that would unfold at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes honour excellence in both television and films. Hosted noted comedian Nikki Glaser, 82nd Golden Globes mark the first time a woman is solo-hosting the show.The French musical crime comedy, Emilia Perez, lead the pack with a stellar 10 nominations, including Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), Best Director (Jacques Audiard), Best Actress (Karla Sofia Gascon), and Best Supporting Actress (Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez). The film took home four awards, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Zoe Saldana), Best Non-English Feature, and Best Original Song.

The stellar run of A24 films continued with Brady Corbet’s The Brutal, which came a close second with seven nominations, and three wins for Best Actor (Adrien Brody), Best Director (Brady), and Best Movie (Drama).
On the television front, the much-loved FX series, The Bear, lead with five nominations, followed another FX series, Shogun, and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, which have four nominations a piece. While Jeremy Allen White won the Best Actor (Comedy or Musical) for The Bear, Jean Smart took home the Best Actress (Comedy or Musical) prize. And Shogun had a 100% record winning in all four categories (Best Series, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress).

Apart from these international titles, India was on the verge of creating hory with the double nominations for Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light. The film, starring Kani Kusruti and Divya Prabha, lost in the Best Non-English feature award category to Emilia Perez, and Payal missed out on the final cut in the Best Director category, which was won Brady for The Brutal.
In India, the 82nd Golden Globe Awards event was streamed on Lionsgate Play.
