EPL | WATCH: Liverpool lose for first time this season, Eddie Nketiah scores late goal to help Crystal Palace win 2-1 | Football News

Liverpool’s penchant for scoring late goals deserted them against recent bogey team Crystal Palace when they conceded a late goal of their own when Eddie Nketiah scored, taking advantage of a long throw in, driving the ball across Alisson Becker the 8th minute of added time to give the Eagles another win over the Reds. With this win, Palace remains the only undefeated team in the league and went up to the 2nd place in the table.
Liverpool played most of the match chasing it after Ismaila Sarr had struck Palace ahead in the 9th minute before Federico Chiesa equalized for the defending champions in the 87th minute. Liverpool thought they had scarped in a draw when Nketiah scored a dramatic late winner for Palace.
Palace have had the Reds’ numbers for the last couple of matches having defeated Liverpool on penalties in the Community Shield.

United also lose
Earlier in the day, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes had a penalty saved as his team slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday, Igor Thiago scoring twice for the hosts.

Fernandes was made to wait several minutes to try to equalise with his penalty, awarded for a clear foul on former Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, and his weak effort was easily saved low down Caoimhin Kelleher.
Brentford wrapped up their second league win of the season in stoppage time when Mathias Jensen netted with a powerful effort following a quick break.
The result lifted them above the visitors on goal difference with United 13th on seven points ahead of the later games.
It was another disjointed performance Ruben Amorim’s United who started the match in shambolic fashion and were 2-0 down after 20 minutes.Story continues below this ad
“We didn’t play our game. We only had control for some moments. But it was more or less all the same. We need to play our games, not the opponents, but they were stronger on that,” Amorim, whose side are winless in their last eight away league games, told TNT Sports.

“It is always the same to lose at this club, it hurts a lot. But we need to think about the next one.”
