Psycholog decodes Jennifer Anon’s perspective on ageing gracefully: ‘Not going to say I don’t get the facials and lasers and all that good stuff’ | Lifestyle News

Actor Jennifer Anon, 56, recently shared her perspective on what she calls ‘ageing gracefully.’ Speaking to Glamour ahead of the premiere of The Morning Show Season 4, she revealed, “That means so much to me. I think, as far as ageing gracefully (is concerned), I have an eternal fountain of optimism and positivity. Call it youth if you want.”
For her, it’s not just about appearance but also the relationship one has with their own body and identity. “I’m not going to say I don’t get the facials and the lasers and all that good stuff. I mean, I’m maintained,” Anon admitted, adding that perspective plays a huge role in how she views the ageing process. “I’m not going to just go down and let these grey hairs take over. So, it’s perspective, and also knowing that this is our one body.”
At the heart of her outlook is the belief that mindset matters most: “Everything starts with one’s love for their body and individuality,” she said. And in response to fellow actor Marion Cotillard’s compliment, she described her as “a walking beam of sunshine and love and beauty and talent,” emphasising how positivity and appreciation extend beyond oneself.

Ageing is a universal process, but how people approach it varies widely. This brings up some meaningful questions about what truly helps people age well, both physically and emotionally.
How much of ‘ageing gracefully’ is influenced mindset and emotional health compared to external treatments like facials or lasers?
Neha Parashar, clinical psycholog, Mindtalk, tells , “Ageing gracefully is often more a reflection of mindset than anything else. Emotional well-being, self-acceptance, and resilience strongly shape how people experience the process of ageing. While external treatments like facials and lasers can certainly enhance one’s appearance, they tend to complement rather than define graceful ageing.”
When individuals feel content, purposeful, and confident from within, she says, it naturally reflects in how they carry themselves, often more so than any cosmetic treatment. In essence, the harmony between inner well-being and outer care creates the healthiest and most authentic version of ageing gracefully.
Role of self-maintenance, such as skincare, grooming, or non-invasive procedures, in boosting confidence as people age
Self-maintenance can serve as a form of self-care and affirmation. Simple practices like skincare, grooming, and even non-invasive procedures help people feel they are investing in themselves. “This can have a powerful psychological effect because feeling good about one’s appearance often translates to greater self-confidence. For many individuals, these routines provide a sense of agency over the aging process. Rather than being about vanity, it is often about comfort, dignity, and the reassurance that one is taking care of their body and mind as they grow older,” states Parashar.

Sustainable lifestyle habits and practices can make the biggest difference in the long term for those who want to age well
Long-term graceful ageing is best supported consent, balanced habits. Parashar adds that regular physical activity, mindful nutrition, and sufficient sleep are fundamental for both physical health and emotional stability. Stress management through practices like meditation, journaling, or creative hobbies can also promote mental well-being. Story continues below this ad
“Nurturing social connections is equally important because meaningful relationships contribute to emotional resilience and happiness as people age. Perhaps most importantly, cultivating a mindset of curiosity and openness to new experiences keeps the mind active and engaged,” concludes Parashar.
