Expat in Australia stunned as Uber Eats order gets delivered 15,400 km away: ‘My heart just dropped’ | Trending

An expat residing in Australia encountered an unbelievable mix-up after inadvertently ordering takeout to an address in Dublin, Ireland—nearly 9,600 miles from his location. While hosting a relaxed evening with friends, the 29-year-old, originally from Belfast, decided to treat his companions ordering dinner via Uber Eats. However, an overlooked detail in his delivery address turned the planned meal into an international error, reported the New York Post. The error ended on a positive note as he managed to secure a full refund. (Pexel) During the evening with his friends Kyle, 33, and Sarah, 29, the expat explained, “We were enjoying a nice evening of drinks and I thought I’d get us a takeaway because I was their guest.” The order, totalling $65 and including items such as BBQ chicken pizzas, garlic bread, and chips, was meant to be delivered locally. Instead, the confirmation revealed that the food was scheduled for delivery to an address in Dublin. In his own words, “I was absolutely gutted.” Realising the make, he recalled that, “My heart just dropped because we were hungry and we were going to have to go through the whole process again of deciding where to order and what we wanted.” The mix-up required him to make a call to cancel the order. On the phone with an Uber Eats representative, he stated, “I need to cancel the order,” all while his friends burst into laughter.
