‘I’m Latin, so we love entertaining with a lot of food and friends’: Inside the LA home of Sofia Vergara, Modern Family’s much-loved Gloria | Art-and-culture News

When it comes to blending luxury, warmth, and a little bit of Latin flair, no one does it quite like Sofia Vergara, best known as Gloria from Modern Family. The actor once gave fans an intimate tour of her gorgeous home, and every corner of it reflects her vibrant personality, love for entertaining, and deep connection to her Colombian roots.
Walking into her formal dining room, Sofia immediately points out its “amazing hand-painted ceiling” that brings the space to life. One of her most treasured details? An 18th-century French tapestry that ties the room’s mood together. A self-confessed China collector, Sofia believes that “putting a lot of effort into the details” makes guests feel truly special. Displayed in elegant cabinets, her carefully curated collection is a testament to her love for entertaining.
The kitchen, unsurprisingly, is the heart of the home. “I’m Latin, so we love entertaining with a lot of food and a lot of friends,” Sofia told AD. Even with cozy rooms throughout the house, guests always end up congregating around her stunning white Onyx counters and the statement La Cornue stove. “I don’t cook,” she admits candidly, “but my son Manolo does—and he insed this was the stove we needed.”

Heading to the family room, the openness of the house truly shines. Sofia adores that every room, including the upstairs guest rooms, opens onto the lush backyard and sparkling pool. “Every time something is happening, everyone can check if they’re missing out and come downstairs,” she jokes. The room is also where she began collecting crystal birds—a quirky, personal passion that blends her love for nature and sparkle.

Art plays a significant role in Sofia’s home, too. She fulfilled a lifelong dream acquiring a painting Colombian legend Fernando Botero, whose voluptuous “Matador” figures captivated her since childhood. “Last year, I finally got the real one,” she beams, proudly showing it off.
But it wasn’t love at first sight for the house itself. When Sofia first saw the property, it resembled “a castle in Transylvania,” she quips. However, the outdoor garden won her over instantly. Full of Mediterranean and tropical plants, the space became an extension of her home life, where she drinks coffee, hosts meetings, and holds court like a queen. “I’m like Don Corleone,” she jokes about greeting guests from her favorite outdoor corner.
Inside, the bedroom continues the theme of cozy sophication. Sofia’s four-poster bed, textured in rich colors, fits perfectly into the sunlit room. “I feel comfortable, sexy, and cozy here,” she says. She also prefers warming the space with the fireplace—sourced from New York’s horic Waldorf Astoria—over using traditional heaters.Story continues below this ad
The bathroom and closet are dreams in themselves. The bathroom, featuring a breathtaking mix of beige and gray with a stunning view from the bathtub, is a sanctuary. Meanwhile, her closet—designed Linda Cooper Smith—is a colour-coded paradise. “I never knew I needed my bags organized like this,” Sofia jokes, adding that despite the perfect system, she’s “still always late.” Special mementos, including family photos, make her closet a place filled with both glamour and heart.
