Facebook, Subway Surfer tops list of most downloaded apps in the last decade

Recently Apple and Google both announced their best apps for the year 2019, and now in a recent report, App Annie has come out with the top apps and games for this decade by listing out all-time downloads and all-time consumer spend.

In a report by App Annie, the listing has taken the time frame from 2010 to 2019 and has listed out the applications accordingly. According to the list, Facebook tops the list with the most number of downloads since 2010 to present. The second most downloaded application is Facebook Messenger. The list also includes the app Instagram, Snapchat, Skype, TikTok, UC Browser, YouTube, and Twitter. In these 10 apps, there are 8 apps which have their parent company situated in the United States, while the rest have their parent companies in China.

In the top games list, the games which topped the list of all-time downloads was the Subway Surfers, Candy Crush Saga, followed by Temple Run 2. For the list of top 10 games by all-time consumer spend, the game which topped the list was Clash of Clans, followed by Monster Strike, and Candy Crush Saga.

The App Annie report state, “It might surprise some to know that Subway Surfers was the most downloaded app game of the decade, driven by its strong adoption in India which accounted for over 15 per cent of its all-time downloads (iOS & Google Play combined). Success came from many different places as each of the most downloaded games came from a different company. Clash of Clans and Candy Crush Saga stand out as the only 2 apps to appear on both the top apps by downloads and consumer spend lists. Monster Strike, Puzzle & Dragons and Fate/Grand Order rounded out the top 5 apps by consumer spend for the decade.”
