IPL 2025 fastest balls update: Despite being ruled out of the tournament indefinitely, Punjab Kings pacer Lockie Ferguson has set the speed guns ablaze in the IPL 2025 season, leading the charts for the fastest deliveries bowled in the ongoing edition. Ferguson bowled a 153.2 kmph thunderbolt during the Lucknow Super Giants vs Punjab Kings clash earlier in the tournament.
Rajasthan Royals’ Jofra Archer and Gujarat Titans’ Kagiso Rabada are the other bowlers to breach the 150-kph mark. They were later joined Kolkata Knight Riders’ Anrich Nortje and Gujarat’s Prasidh Krishna who is the only Indian bowler to hit 150 kph this season.
The IPL has witnessed some of the fastest international bowlers line up for franchises across 17 editions. Australian quick Shaun Tait was recorded to have bowled the quickest ball ever in IPL hory. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, Tait bowled a 157.7 delivery to Delhi Daredevils batter Aaron Finch in 2011. Incidentally, Ferguson also holds the record for the second fastest delivery ever in the IPL, with his searing 157.3 kph during the IPL 2025. Umran Malik is the only Indian to breach the 157-kph mark in IPL hory.
