Film loses 700 shows in 7 days

Son of Sardaar 2 box office collection day 7: Ajay Devgn’s mindless comedy film Son Of Sardaar 2 is far from reaching its break-even point after spending a reported budget of Rs 150 crore. The film, released on August 1, is struggling to attract footfall in theatres. The film opened at Rs 7.25 crore saw increase in its numbers over the weekend only to fall flat 74% on its first Monday, earning just Rs 2.75 crore. Whereas, debutante Ahaan Panday’s film earned Rs 24 crore on first Monday, which also became the cause behind Ajay Devgn pushing the release of his film a week. However, the move didn’t help as new release Mahavatar Narsimha stole the spotlight.
On day 7, Ajay Devgn starrer comedy drama saw an overall occupancy of 8.64% across India with a total of 2,265 shows. The number of shows decreased over the time due to negative word of mouth. On the day of its release, the film had a total of 2920 shows. Son of Sardaar 2 earned Rs 1.40 crore on its seventh day, taking its total collection to Rs 32.89 crore India net, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
Meanwhile, Dhadak 2, which too released on the same day as Son of Sardaar 2, is also struggling to bring movie buffs to the theaters. It has collected a total of Rs 16.44 crore despite opening to good reviews. The film is being overshadowed box office winner Mahavatar Narasimha. With its release on July 25, the film is continuing to have a steady run at the box office. It earned Rs 5.25 crore on Thursday, pushing its total collection to Rs 118.05 crore. Dhadak 2, however, earned Rs 1 crore on Thursday.

Before Narasimha, it was Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s romantic drama Saiyaara that kept the cash counter ringing, earning over Rs 300 crore in India.
Son of Sardaar 2, co-written Jagdeep Singh Sidhu-Mohit Jain and directed Vijay Kumar Arora, marks the third release of Ajay Devgn this year after Azaad and Raid 2. While Azaad was a box office debacle, Raid 2 couldn’t revive the magic of the 2018 film Raid. Apart from Ajay Devgn, the film stars actors Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, late Mukul Dev, Vindu Dara Singh, Mrunal Thakur, Deepak Dobriyal and Chunky Panday, among others.
So far, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior stands at the highest-grossing film of Ajay Devgn with a collection of Rs 277.75 crore. The l is followed Singham Again (Rs 247.86 crore) and Drishyam 2 (Rs 239.67 crore).
