First look of Reliane Jio VoLTE phone leaked
Reports are rife that Reliance Jio is readying another onslaught on rival telecom companies with its Rs 500 feature phone. Live images of the Lyf branded Jio VoLTE phone has surfaced online. As per the images shared by TechPP, the phone runs KAI OS, a split version of HTML5-based Firefox OS.
The phone will also come with an app store called KaiOS Plus along with Facebook and Jio apps. It will also offer support for WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB tethering. It will also come equipped with an in-built voice assistant support for Indian languages.
As per the rumoured specifications, the Reliance Jio feature phone will sport a 2.4-inch colour display and will offer 512MB of RAM. It will come with 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB by adding a microSD card.
The feature phone will also come with a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front shooter for selfies. There will also be a torch light with dedicated key and will be backed by a 2,000 mAh removable battery.
A report in The Economic Times, quoting sources, stated that Reliance Jio may announce its Rs 500 4G VoLTE phone at parent Reliance Industries’ annual general meeting (AGM), which is scheduled for July 21.
The report further suggests that the shipments for the 4G phone should begin from July-end or early -August. The company is looking at Independence Day (August 15) as the possible launch date for the phones.
Recently, Reliance Jio revamped its tariff plans for both pre-paid and post-paid users. Though the new plans start at Rs 19, the data offered and validity of most plans has been increased. The daily FUP limit and other offers, including free voice calling, remain the same for all plans.
