Flying Beast on ‘extremely rare’ situation

In the wake of the tragic Air India plane crash that occurred this afternoon in Ahmedabad, YouTuber and former commercial pilot Gaurav Taneja, known widely his online moniker Flying Beast, shared his perspective on what may have caused the incident. Taking to his account on X (formerly Twitter), Taneja suggested that a catastrophic technical failure could have caused the accident. “Looks like a Dual Engine Failure after Take Off. Nothing short of a complete power loss can force a modern aircraft into that kind of sink rate, right after take off. Praying for everyone on board,” he posted.

Responding to a follower who asked about the likelihood of such a failure, Taneja emphasized the extreme rarity of the situation. “Extremely extremely extremely rare… a pilot cannot do anything, if he loses both engines after take off at 600 feet with building in front,” he replied.
He wrote in another comment, “Shocked to see a wide body aircraft just go down. Nightmare for a pilot. We have been into simulator sessions where our instructor simulates a dual engine failure and we struggle to gain control of the aircraft. BUT at the end, instructor feeezes the sim and says ‘that was just a demonstration’. Can’t even imagine if this happens in real life.”
Taneja, who spent over a decade flying commercial aircraft before transitioning to a full-time career on YouTube, is known for his aviation insights and analysis of real-world incidents. Just weeks ago, he discussed another aviation scare involving a Srinagar-bound IndiGo flight that had to navigate treacherous weather. That aircraft was denied entry into Pakani airspace due to geopolitical tensions, forcing it to fly through challenging conditions.
