Responding to a user’s question of whether he used Ozempic, Singh wrote: “Nope … and thanks for asking instead of accusing … still some decent wow left on Twitter – the others like to trash people’s efforts and emotions. ‘Lose weight’ were my mother’s last words to me .. so I’m doing it,” he replied.

Responding to another’s question of whether it was due to any health concerns, Singh said, “I have ZERO issues – I enjoyed my eating and drinking alcohol and smoking. I have only reduced my eating and drinking temporarily … I haven’t done this for anyone else or health reasons – just did it cause that’s the last thing my mom said to me before I lost her.”

According to him, good nutrition during childhood, paired with exercise and healthy habits in youth set the base for a healthy life. “ 25, you either have a strong foundation or you don’t. An active lifestyle with plenty of movement is essential. Being overweight isn’t necessarily unhealthy, just as being too skinny isn’t always good either.”

So, we reached out to an expert to understand if there is a connection between weight loss and hair loss.
Dr Shareefa Chause, dermatolog, Dr Shareefa skin care clinic, Mumbai, said losing weight quickly can cause unexpected side effects, including hair loss. “This happens because rapid weight loss can stress out the body, leading to a condition called telogen effluvium, which is a temporary hair-shedding phase. When the body goes through a sudden change, like a drastic drop in calories or nutrients, it tends to weaken hair strands and contribute to slow regrowth,” said Dr Chause.
Notably, nutrient deficiencies are a major reason for hair loss. “Low levels of protein, iron, zinc, biotin, and vitamin D tend to slow growth,” said Dr Chause.
Extreme diets, especially those lacking balanced nutrition, can cause hair loss. “Moreover, hormone changes and increased stress from weight loss can also affect the hair growth cycle. Understand that this type of hair loss is temporary. Hence, it is advisable to eat a balanced diet, manage stress, and give the body time to adjust, which can help hair grow back naturally,” said Dr Chause.Story continues below this ad
If shedding continues, see a doctor or nutrition to look for the exact cause of deficiencies and then manage them with appropriate treatment.
