KKR assant bowling coach Omkar Salvi to be next Mumbai Ranji coach

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has appointed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) assant bowling coach Omkar Salvi as head coach of their Ranji Trophy team for the forthcoming season.
The MCA had received seven applications for the post of head coach and it is learnt that the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) went with Salvi, who has earlier worked as the Mumbai team’s bowling coach.
Among the applicants for the head coach’s job were former Mumbai coach Vinayak Samant, Vinayak Mane, Atul Ranade, former India wicketkeeper Sameer Dighe, Umesh Patwal and Pradeep Sundaram.
The Indian Express understands that the MCA wanted a relatively new face, who understands players’ requirements in the contemporary environment.

Meanwhile, Dighe will be appointed director of the MCA Indoor Academy. The CIC has also appointed Rajesh Pawar as Mumbai under-23 coach while India captain Rohit Sharma’s school coach Dinesh Lad will guide the under-19 team.
