Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has hit out at US President Donald Trump for his recent comments suggesting that America needs H-1B visa talent and international students, which many in the MAGA circles see as a U-turn of his long-standing policies on immigration.

On Trump’s US doesn’t have talented people comment

In a lengthy post on X, Greene, who was once Trump’s most ardent supporter and in recent months has become one of the US President’s most vocal critics in the Republican Party, said she believes that the American people are talented, creative, intelligent, and hard-working, and that she is against them being replaced foreign labour.

“I believe in the American people. I am one of you. I believe you are good, talented, creative, intelligent, hard working, and want to achieve. I am solidly against you being replaced foreign labor, like with H1Bs,” Greene said, in an apparent retort to Trump’s recent comments that the US didn’t have enough talented people.

On allowing more international students

Greene further lambasted Trump for his remarks that foreign students are good for American universities and colleges.

“I am solidly against allowing foreign students into our colleges and universities, like 600,000 Chinese students, just to financially prop them up. If they fail, they fail. The system in place isn’t helping our young people anyways,” she said.

Hosting Syrian President

Greene, who represents Georgia’s 14th congressional drict in the US Congress, also criticised Trump for hosting Syrian President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, who not so long ago was led as a wanted Al-Qaida terror, in the White House.

“I am against bringing any foreign leader that is a terror or oversees killing innocent people into our country and into the Oval Office. They do not deserve our support,” she said.

“I am elected to represent my drict and the American people, no other country, and I only serve Americans. I am America First and America Only.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene vs Donald Trump

This is the latest episode in what appears to be a fallout between Trump and Greene. Earlier this week, Trump said Greene had “lost her way” after she questioned his foreign policy priorities.

Throughout the US government shutdown, Greene has been one of the rare Republicans to break ranks with the party and criticize Trump.

Greene also supported the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files and earlier this year signed a discharge petition to force a House floor vote on the matter.
