IPL 2025 Youngest Cricketers L: The 2025 season of the Indian Premier League could see records tumble if the Rajasthan Royals have their way, after the team picked up a 13-year-old prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. Despite his young age, Suryavanshi had sparked off a brief bidding war between Delhi Capitals and RR before the Royals managed to snap him up for Rs 1.1 crore.
Picking up Suryavanshi goes perfectly with the way the Royals have traditionally gone about their business: of backing young stars to come good, like they did with Ravindra Jadeja, handing him his IPL debut at the age of 19 under Shane Warne in IPL 2008, or giving Sanju Samson an IPL debut under Rahul Dravid in 2013 at the age of 18.
Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?
Even those standards, signing Suryavanshi was a jaw-dropping decision, one that found a mention in a recent ad, where Chennai Super Kings legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Royals captain Samson are seen bantering about Suryavanshi.

“I hear you guys have signed a 13-year-old? I had won an IPL title before he was born,” jokes MS Dhoni. “He might also win an IPL title before you retire,” responds Samson with a smile.
Suryavanshi had slammed a 58-ball century in a Youth Test for India U19s against Australia last year. Earlier this year, he made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy for Bihar.
