A person who tried to intervene became the target of his anger. The row appears to have stemmed from a “We don’t serve halal” sign posted outside the restaurant.“I am proud. I don’t sell halal,” Kapoor screamed. Earlier in the video, he said he had the right to display the sign because he owned the restaurant.Police confrontationHours earlier, Kapoor had shared another video showing police officers at the premises. He alleged that the Met Police had sided with protesters, echoing previous claims of a lack of support from local authorities.“Get lost, go,” Kapoor was heard shouting at a police officer. Sharing the video on X, he wrote, “When the Met Police were called in, they arrived aggressively and I had to throw police out.”“Rangrez restaurant will not sell halal,” Kapoor reiterated.‘Abused and attacked’The controversy apparently escalated on Saturday, after Kapoor shared a photograph of his restaurant entrance displaying a sign that read: “Proudly we don’t sell halal.”He later posted a video in which he was seen repeating the message to a man wearing a blue hoodie. “I’m proud. I don’t sell halal,” he told the man.Sharing the clip on X, the Indian-origin restaurateur claimed he was being “abused and attacked Muslims” for refusing to sell halal food.“If Muslims can display halal signs outside their restaurants in the UK without facing hate or abuse, then why am I, as a Sikh, being abused and attacked Muslims for displaying ‘Proudly, we don’t sell halal’?” he questioned. “In the holy month of Ramadan, I’m being intimidated, abused and hated them.”
