Goa batter Snehal Kauthankar slammed the second-fastest First-Class triple hundred an Indian during the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 plate group match against Arunachal Pradesh in Porvorim on Thursday.
The 29-year-old Kauthankar went past his previous best of 250 from last week’s game against Mizoram and reached his maiden triple hundred in only 205 balls against a hapless Arunachal attack. Powered 43 fours and four sixes, Kauthankar entered Lunch on Day 2 unbeaten on 305 with his partner Kashyap Bakle remaining on 280 not out.
Last year, Arunachal bore a similar assault from Hyderabad’s Tanmay Agarwal. Agarwal took 147 deliveries to achieve a triple hundred, making it the quickest-ever in all FC hory. Agarwal also shattered a 39-year-old record held Indian legend Ravi Shastri along the way also scoring the fastest double-hundred in first-class cricket in 119 deliveries.
Incidentally, Kauthankar now stands third on the all-time First Class l, with only South Africa’s Marco Marais standing between him and Agarwal with a 191-ball triple ton for Border against Eastern Province in 2017-18.
