Govinda’s lawyer says ‘there is no case’ after claims that Sunita Ahuja has filed for divorce: ‘People are bringing up old matters’ | Bollywood News

Sunita Ahuja and Govinda’s alleged marital troubles have reared their head again as it has been reported that Sunita has filed for a divorce from her husband of nearly 40 years. A report Hauterrfly claimed the star wife has filed for divorce in the Bandra Family Court on December 5, 2024. It also revealed that Sunita moved the case under section 13 (1) (i), (ia), (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, citing adultery, cruelty and desertion as grounds. According to the report, the court summoned Govinda, but he didn’t appear in person until a notice to show cause was issued in May this year.
The report also claimed that Sunita and Govinda are undergoing court-mandated counselling. Now, Govinda’s lawyer Lalit Bindra has reacted to the divorce rumours. Speaking to NDTV, Lalit shared, “There is no case, everything is being settled, people are just bringing up old matters.” He added, “This Ganesh Chaturthi, you will see everyone together, you should come home.”
After the report of their divorce surfaced online, Govinda was spotted at the Mumbai airport. However, the actor looked unfazed from all the rumours around his marriage and blowed a kiss towards the photographers as he posed for pictures.

Similar rumours came up in February as well but at the time, Govinda’s team claimed that Sunita had filed for divorce six months ago but the couple had then reconciled.

What sparked their divorce rumours?
Sunita Ahuja has been promoting her new YouTube channel lately and has been giving many interviews. While she shared in her latest vlog that Govinda and her are strong companions, she has also made statements in the past where in she said that they live separately. She has also implied that he has been unfaithful towards her.
There were reports that a 30-year-old Marathi actress might be the reason behind the couple’s fallout. However, speaking about the same, producer Pahlaj Nihalani told Vickey Lalwani, “Nobody can get between Sunita and Govinda’s eternal love.”

Despite having a fallout with Govinda, Pahlaj said, “Len, nobody can get in between Sunita and Govinda’s eternal love. Sunita speaks her mind, and Govinda never strays. Their marriage will survive even if he has 10 affairs. Plus, they’ve always lived separately. He always used to have his meetings in the other bungalow, because he sleeps late. She’s always with him otherwise. He doesn’t have a single film right now, but he does shows daily, and she handles his business matters.”
Govinda tied the knot with Sunita in 1987. They have two children: Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja.
