Greg Chappell slams talk of Jasprit Bumrah’s action, calls it ‘unequivocally clean’ | Cricket News

Former India coach Greg Chappell has said that the Australian top order is a major concern after India drubbed the hosts in the opening Test.
Australia lost to India 295 runs and it was their top order that simply collapsed in the first innings where they were bowled out for a paltry 104.
In his column for The Sydney Morning Herald, the former Australia player wrote: “The (Australian) top order is a major concern. To avoid forced changes, they must deliver in Adelaide”.
He also cautioned the selectors, saying it’s difficult to see the same team taking the field for the next Test.

“At this stage, I don’t expect the Australian selectors to panic. However, if the same team takes the field in Adelaide and falters under the lights … watch out!”, he wrote.
Australia’s feared pace attack was lethal in the first inning where they bowled out India for 150 but they didn’t seem to have any answers for the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in the second innings. Chappell wrote that those were troubling signs.
“As the match progressed, the Australian attack began to look weary, as though they’d already endured back-to-back Tests. This was troubling, given that four Tests remain in the series.”
Chappell, who coached India from 2005 to 2007 also slammed the chat surrounding Jasprit Bumrah’s action to end.
“ the way, please stop this nonsense of questioning Bumrah’s action. It is unique, but it is unequivocally clean. It demeans a champion performer and the game to even bring it up,” Chappell wrote.
