Hangzhou Asian Games: India go past best ever Asiad medal tally, bettering previous high from 2018 in Indonesia | Asian-games News

With two more medals coming early in the morning on Wednesday in Hangzhou, the Indian contingent officially went past their best tally ever at the Asian Games, crossing the 70 mark set in Jakarta-Palembang in 2018.
India won a race walk bronze early in the morning on Day 11 of action, thanks to Ram Baboo and Manju Rani. That was followed a sensationally consent run put together Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Pravin Deotale in the compound mixed team archery event. The Indian pair defeated Korea in the final to clinch gold.
With that, India’s tally at the 19th Asian Games went up to 16 gold, 26 silver, 29 bronze.Most Read

The tally of 70 was already assured to be crossed on Day 10, with medals guaranteed to come in from other events still. But another significant milestone was India winning their 16th gold medal with the archery compound mixed team, and now being guaranteed thier best ever gold medal tally in Asian Games as well. That was previously set in Indonesia as well with 16. In Hangzhou, India are guaranteed more gold medal at the very least with an all-Indian final coming up on final day in compound men’s individual event.
With medals assured to come in from boxing, squash, archery and bridge, and still a few track & field events left, Indian contingent will now be trying to get close to that 100-medal target.
