Hangzhou Asian Para Games, Day 3: Javelin thrower Sumit Antil smashes World Record again, Ankur Dhama wins second gold as Indians bag a whopping 30 medals | Sport-others News

The fourth edition of Asian Para Games officially got underway with medal events from 22 October.India had won 14 medals at the 2010 edition, 33 in 2014 and 72 in 2018. In Guangzhou at the inaugural edition, India had won 1 gold while that number went up to 15 in Indonesia. In Jakarta, India finished 9th overall in the medals tally.
Horically, much like the Asian Games, track and field have contributed most to the India medal tally at the Asian Para Games. Before the 2023 edition, India had won a total of 119 medals and 60 of those came from athletics.

On Day 3, India got close to their best-ever tally at the Asian Para Games, raking in a total of 30 medals in Hangzhou on Wednesday. The headline belonged to Sumit Antil, the Tokyo Paralympics champion, as he broke his own World Record yet again, throwing a massive 73.29m effort in Men’s Javelin Throw-F64 for a sensational gold.
Also impressive was Ankur Dhama, who became a double-gold medal in Hangzhou, adding the Men’s 1500m-T11 title to the Men’s 5000m-T11 he won earlier.
Men’s javelin throw saw Indians win gold medals in three different categories with Haney and Sundar Singh Gurjar joining Sumit. Sundar led an Indian clean sweep in Men’s Javelin Throw-F46.
