Hardik Pandya after MI’s 7-wicket win over SRH

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya lauded his team after a comfortable seven-wicket win over a reeling Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2025 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday. He said Mumbai will be a completely dominating side once everyone starts clicking.
“Good to have wins behind our back. Glad the boys are taking the momentum in the right way. I’ve felt, once everyone starts clicking in this team there will be domination. Deepak, Boult set it up; Rohit, SKY (Suryakumar) finished it. Overall, a wonderful win,” said Pandya after the match.
Chasing just 144, opener and former MI skipper Rohit Sharma scored 70 before Suryakumar Yadav took Hyderabad bowlers to the cleaners with ease hitting 40 of just 19 as MI beat SRH seven wickets with 26 balls remaining.

Hardik also said that captaincy is sometimes about instincts and innovation rather than just sticking to stereotypical roles. He introduced Deepak Chahar right away and bowled him for four straight overs, and the new ball special returned with exceptional figures of 4-0-12-2, picking two big wickets of Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
“Realised that captaincy sometimes is about instincts. Want to see and react and not always pre-plan. In a situation like this where he (Chahar) bowled wonderfully in the powerplay, then why hold his fourth over back?” said Pandya.
Player of the Match Trent Boult, picked 4 for 26, dismantled SRH’s batting line-up as the hosts only managed 143/8 in 20 overs. The New Zealander also heaped praise on Chahar, saying the Indian quick did a great job. “To keep a quality side down in their home conditions was the most satisfying. Deepak did a great job. I’d love to bowl four in a row and swing it around but it doesn’t always happen. You have to be ready to bowl in whatever stage you’re asked,” said Boult.
This was Mumbai’s fourth win on the trot as the team climbed to the third spot in the points table behind toppers Gujarat Titans and second-placed Delhi Capitals.Story continues below this ad
