‘Harmanpreet’s behaviour against Bangladesh was pathetic, she got a very bad name for Indian cricket’
India women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur was widely condemned for her behavior after the third ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday.
This was after she was adjudged LBW and India subsequently tied the match. However, her reaction after the dismissal – smashing her stumps with her bat and calling the umpiring “pathetic” in the post-match presentation, was deemed disrespectful.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) issued a statement saying that they were “disappointed” Kaur’s behavior.
Now former India cricketer Madan Lal expressed unhappiness with Kaur’s act and slammed her behaviour, adding that she is not bigger than the game.
“Harmanpreet’s behaviour against the Bangladesh women’s team was pathetic. She is not bigger than the game. She got a very bad name for Indian cricket. BCCI should take very strict disciplinary action.”

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana, in the post-match press conference, had also criticized Kaur and said, “It is totally her problem. I have nothing to do with it. As a player, she could have shown better manners. I can’t tell you what happened, but it didn’t feel right to be there [for the photograph] with my team. It wasn’t the right environment. That’s why we went back. Cricket is a game of discipline and respect.”
