‘He gave it to me’: Watch Argentina’s Leandro Paredes reveal Messi gifted his La Liga 2020-21 Best Player award
Lionel Messi’s PSG and Argentina teammate Leandro Paredes has revealed that the World Cup-winning star has gifted him his La Liga 2020-21 Best Player award.
Paredes, currently on loan at Italian giants Juventus, recently showed journals around his home in Turin and said, “He [Messi] arrived in Paris, I asked him if he would give it to me and he gave it to me.”
Paredes, who was also part of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning squad, showed journals all the trophies and medals he won during his career so far.

Messi won 10 La Liga titles, seven Copas del Rey, and four Champions Leagues during his 17-year spell with Barcelona.
The 35-year-old has also won 15 Argentine Footballer of the Year awards, six European Golden Shoes and, of course, a record seven Ballons d’Or.
Messi joined PSG on a two-year deal after leaving Barcelona against his will in 2021, with an option for an extra year if both parties agreed. But talks have reportedly broken down and Messi’s departure this summer looks increasingly inevitable.
He was among the players jeered last season after PSG was knocked out Real Madrid, and although Messi’s form was outstanding in the first half of this campaign, it dipped significantly after he led Argentina to the World Cup title in Qatar.
PSG coach Chrophe Galtier defended Messi saying it was others who should raise their game.
