Here’s the secret to new mom Athiya Shetty’s glowy, radiant skin

Athiya Shetty and her husband, KL Rahul, welcomed their first child, a ba girl, on Monday (March 24, 2025). The new parents took to social media to share the happy announcement with their fans.
While the Motichoor Chaknachoor actor likes to keep a low profile, only occasionally sharing glimpses of her day-to-day life on Instagram, her effortless style and chic makeup looks have always kept us hooked for more. And it seemed like the new mom heard us when she spilled the beans on her well-kept secrets in an earlier interview with Grazia India.
Hydration is key
Athiya Shetty shared that the most important part of her skincare routine is mourising and drinking lots of water — thanks to her really dry skin. “In the morning, it will be lots of sunblock, a lip balm. I love blush and mascara, so that’s my go-to look,” she said. In the evening, before going to bed, she makes sure to wash her face, mourise, apply an under eye cream, and lip balm.

Speaking about the importance of mourising, Dr Gurveen Waraich Garekar, of Garekars M.D. Dermatology Clinic, Mumbai, told that while skipping mouriser doesn’t directly cause acne, it can contribute to a dry, irritated complexion. This can lead to overproduction of oil, potentially triggering breakouts.
“Mouriser creates a smooth, hydrated base for sunscreen application, ensuring even and adequate coverage. It alleviates dry, flaky skin, enhancing sunscreen adherence and effectiveness,” she added. Garekar advised using oil-free, non-comedogenic mourisers, and sunscreens to avoid clogging pores. She says washing the face twice daily with a gentle cleanser to remove excess oil, dirt, and sweat can help prevent breakouts.
Juggling a busy shoot schedule requires double cleansing to take off the dirt and grime of the day, and the Hero actor tries to cut down on sugar and excessive oil to avoid skin problems. “I have a green juice that hydrates me and works for my skin. Right now, I’ve actually been using a lot of vegan products, whether skincare, makeup, or creams that don’t use animals in their testing,” she revealed.
DIY secrets
Shetty shared that she likes to take beetroot, mash it, and apply it on her cheeks as a tint. During the lockdown, she experimented with many DIY masks—avocado and yogurt, honey and lime, and papaya lime and yogurt were her go-to combinations.Story continues below this ad
Dr Shareefa Chause, a dermatolog at Dr Shareefa Skincare Clinic, Mumbai, however, pointed out that home remedies can be risky for those with acne-prone skin. “Don’t just believe in any random posts or forwards on social media. Applying natural products on the skin directly causes irritation, redness, or sensitivity. Trying DIY tips or home remedies is not advisable and can worsen the acne. Use products only suggested the doctor,” she added.
