HMD’s Barbie phone is now available in India for Rs 7,999: Check details | Technology News

HMD Global, the company that has been launching smartphones under its Nokia brand for some years, has finally brought the much-awaited Barbie phone to India.
Announced last year in partnership with Hotwheels maker Mattel, the Barbie phone is a pink coloured retro flip phone with a 2.8-inch QVGA inner screen and a 1.77-inch external display, which also doubles up as a mirror.
As one would expect, the Barbie phone is only available in pink colour. It comes with two replaceable back covers – one with 1992’s iconic Totally Hair Barbie doll and another one with a “shooting heart” design and also includes a beaded lanyard with attachable charms.

You also get Barbie themed wallpapers and app icons. For those wondering, some pre-installed digital wellbeing apps include ‘Digital balance tips’, ‘BarbieMeditation’ and ‘Self-Care reminders’. HMD has also included some hidden easter eggs, which can be triggered typing BARBIE (*#227243#) for Barbie wallpapers and KEN (*#536#) for Ken wallpapers.
Featuring the UniSoc T107 chipset, HMD’s Barbie phone sports 64MB RAM and comes with 128MB of internal storage that can be expanded to 32GB using a microSD card. The device runs on S30+ OS and supports two SIMs.
The back of the phone packs a VGA camera with an LED flash while the bottom has a USB Type-C port for charging. Also, unlike most modern smartphones, you get a 3,5 headphone jack and both wired and wireless FM Radio. All of this is powered a 1,450mAh battery, which HMD says offers nine hours of talk time.
The Barbie phone is currently available for purchase on HMD India website for Rs 7,999.
