A war of words broke out between the BJP and the opposition parties over the naming of the Nehru Memorial Museum as the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library.

Amid the controversy over naming the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) in the national capital as Prime Ministers Memorial Museum and Library (PMML), Congress President Rahul Gandhi today said that his great grandfather is better known for his work. did in his time and not just because of his name.

Speaking to ANI at the Delhi airport ahead of a two-day visit to Leh, Gandhi said, “Nehru-ji ki pehchaan unke Karam hai, unka naam Nahi (Nehru-ji is known by his work, not his name).”

 

Earlier, a war of words broke out between the BJP and the opposition parties over the naming of the Nehru Memorial Museum as the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi can never take away Jawaharlal Nehru’s gigantic contribution to the country’s freedom struggle while debating the official name of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) in the heart of the national capital. .

Taking official control of X, formerly Twitter, Ramesh posted on Wednesday: “Starting today, the iconic institution will have a new name. The world famous Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) will be converted into PMML’s Prime Ministers Memorial Museum and Library. Mr Modi has a huge range of fears, complexes and insecurities, especially as our first and longest serving Prime Minister. He had one agenda to deny, distort, malign and destroy Nehru and Nehru’s legacy.

The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) was officially renamed the Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) on Monday.  PMML Vice President Surya Prakash said yesterday that the new museum will showcase Jawaharlal Nehru’s achievements and contributions to the nation.
