‘Human rights or 2 points’: Afghanan’s Naveen-ul-Haq takes a dig at Australia before AFG vs AUS ODI World Cup match | Cricket-world-cup News
Afghanan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq, on social media, took a dig at Australia as he recalled the episode when Australia refused to play a bilateral series against the Afghans and forfeited a three-match ODI series in the United Arab Emirates in late March following the Taliban’s imposition of restrictions on women’s and girls’ education and employment.
“Refusing to play the bilateral series, now it will be interesting to see cricket Australia stand in the World Cup #standards #humanrights or 2 points,” Naveen wrote on social media.

Naveen also expressed unhappiness over Cricket Australia’s (CA)decision to withdraw from the ODI series in March. He was not the only one with star leg spinner Rashid Khan, who also condemned CA earlier in the year.
“Cricket! The only hope for the country. Keep politics out of it,” Rashid Khan had said.
“I am really disappointed to hear that Australia have pulled out of the series to play us in March. I take great pride in representing my country and we have made great progress on the world stage,” Khan said in a statement in January 2023.
The series was a part of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Super League, where the top eight teams automatically qualify for the 2023 World Cup.Most Read

Afghanan remain the only ICC full-member nation without a women’s team. They have continued to appear at ICC events since the Taliban takeover, however, and faced Australia during last year’s Twenty20 World Cup.
The Taliban regained control of Kabul in mid-2021 and immediately placed restrictions on female participation in sports.
Australia, however, had stood up for the rights of Afghan women to play sports.
