Hyderabad weather update for IPL match today: What will happen if it rains during SRH vs LSG game | Ipl News

IPL match today: Sunrisers Hyderabad host Lucknow Super Giants in an IPL match today at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad where the stakes couldn’t get higher.
Both teams are locked on 12 points after playing 11 IPL 2024 matches each. While LSG are in sixth position on the points table, hosts SRH are fourth in the standings ahead of the IPL match today.
While there are four teams with 12 points each in the standings, Hyderabad are ahead of the two other teams including Lucknow, thanks to their NRR being better. While SRH has a NRR of -0.065, Lucknow’s corresponding figure stands at -0.371 heading into the IPL match today.
Both sides have six wins, which means the team that win the IPL match today puts a four-point gap between themselves and the losing side in the SRH vs LSG game.
SRH are coming into the match carrying the scars of a defeat to bottom-of-the-pile Mumbai Indians. The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, where they’ve already claimed three wins this season, should offer some solace. However, there are a few things that will keep them worried. The first is that LSG have not lost to SRH in any of the three IPL matches the two teams have played against each other.
But what will be playing at the back of both teams’ minds is the fact that the weather Gods are casting a shadow on this crunch IPL match.
Weather update for SRH vs LSG game
As per a report weather forecast site AccuWeather, the weather in Hyderabad is likely to get cloudy in the evening of the IPL match day.
There is also an expectation of thunderstorms and winds after 8 pm. The chances of rain are nearly 50 per cent on the evening of the match.
According to reports in local media in Telangana, heavy rains had lashed parts of the state on Tuesday. Parts like Serilingampally, Kukatpally, Gachibowli, Nizampet, Jubilee Hills and Miyapur were affected the rainfall on Tuesday.
What happens if it rains in Hyderabad
Should it start raining, things will get tricky. Both teams will hope they get a decisive result in their favour, because if the heavens open up and a result is not possible, both teams will split a point each, leaving both sides on 13 points from 12 matches.
The IPL table currently has two spots open for the playoffs, with Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals more or less assured of a spot in the IPL Playoffs with 16 points from 11 matches. This means it’s a four-team race to get the final two positions.
If today’s IPL match is washed out, LSG and SRH will have just two games to make their case for a playoff spot.
LSG have no home comfort anymore as they play Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 14 and the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on May 17.
SRH, meanwhile, host Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings at home, so they have better chances of securing their playoff spot even if the IPL match today gets washed out.
