‘I also believe in Siraj bhai’: Nitish Reddy posts tribute to pacer for helping him reach maiden ton | Cricket News

Nitish Reddy paid a tribute to Mohammed Siraj who was the last man standing when the Andhra batter reached his maiden century in the 3rd day of the India vs Australia 4th Test at the Melbourne.
Reddy was on the non-striker’s end at 99 when Siraj came to bat with India on 350/9 with the crowd collectively holding their breaths to see if the bowler could survive the three remaining balls in Pat Cummins over.
Siraj ultimately did his part and kept Cummins at bay before Reddy regained strike in the next over and played a picture-perfect straight drive off Scott Boland to reach the milestone.

“I also believe in Siraj bhai,” Reddy posted on his social media handles, drawing inspirations from Siraj’s own viral interview after the 2024 T20 World Cup where he said “I only believe in Jassi bhai.” praising Jasprit Bumrah’s performance.
Entering at number 8 for India at 191 for six, in their first-innings pursuit of Australia’s 474, Nitish led a remarkable counter for India with the help of a record 127-run stand for the eighth wicket with Washington Sundar.
The 22-year-old Andhra reached his century off 171 deliveries shortly before bad light forced early stumps on Day 3. Nitish became the third-youngest Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Rishabh Pant to smash a Test hundred in Australia.

The century was only Nitish’s second First-Class hundred, having struck a Ranji Trophy century against Bihar earlier this year. Nitish walked back to the pavillion at stumps with racuous applause from a packed MCG crowd with his family in attendance. His teammates also lined up on the boundary line and received him with a standing ovation.
