‘I can’t keep my eyes off Jasprit Bumrah, he’s a joke’: Former England pacer lavishes praise on Indian spearhead | Cricket News

Former England pacer Steven Finn lauded Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in the Perth Test against Australia and has called him a the “best player” in the world.
Bumrah, whose 5 for 30 in the first innings of the Test skittled Australia out for 104, and then returned with the figures of 3 for 42 in the second.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal scored that brilliant 161, but the player that I loved watching and I think is actually the best player in the world, bar none at the moment, is Jasprit Bumrah,” Finn said on TNT Sports.
“I mean, He’s just, he’s a joke, honestly.
“I stayed up all night watching him bowl. I can’t keep my eyes off him.

“You watch him bowl and you just think, I’m glad that I don’t have to strap my pads on.”
Finn explained Bumrah’s brilliance on how he outsmarted the Australian batters in Perth.
“If we just think back to those deliveries there, and he’s pinned them all on the pads straight, which you don’t see people pinning Smith, Labuschagne on the pads like that, and that’s a mix of his pace and the skill and the build-up to those,” he said.
“In isolation, those wickets look dodgy from the Australians, but it’s the skill in being able to get them outside the off stump bowling away swingers, away swingers, and then surprise them with a rapid, big booming in swinger. It’s marvellous bowling.”

Finn suggests if Bumrah will have an excellent series then England might have a chance to win the Ashes in Australia next year.
“If he has a good series here, it does England a lot of favours going into next winter as well.”
Finn, who has played 36 Tests, 69 ODIs and 21 T20Is for England feels the depth in the Indian cricket at the moment is “terrifying.”
“Well, there’ll be more changes in the Indian team than the Australia team, I think between Test matches as well, which shows the strength and depth of Indian cricket. It’s terrifying really that,” he said.
