I try to play just how team needs: Yashasvi Jaiswal after match-winning knock against West Indies | Cricket News

Yashasvi Jaiswal played a pivotal part in India’s run chase of 178 scoring an unbeaten 84 against the West Indies to level the T20 series 2-2.
Jaiswal, who slammed his maiden T20I fifty for his national side, hit eleven boundaries and 3 sixes to help India reach the target with overs to spare. Giving him apt support was opening partner Shubman Gill who scored 77 before falling to Romario Shepherd.
“I am happy to go out there and perform and I try to play how team needs. I try to score quickly and how many shots I can play in the powerplay. Reading the wicket, reading the situation, everything is important,” he said after the match.
“It (partnership with Gill) was really amazing. He batted really well and we knew which bowlers to take on,” the Rajasthan Royals batter added.
Skipper Hardik Pandya also lauded the efforts of the two youngsters, saying that their skill set was undeniable.
“Shubman and Yashasvi were brilliant. There is no doubt in their skill set. The way they ran in the heat and finished the job,” he said.
“Going forward, we’ll have to take responsibility as batters and help our bowlers. I like to captain how I see the game. I like to go with my instincts. It was our own error in the first game. We didn’t do much different in the next two games. All these games gives us a lot of confidence. We had to pull up our socks and play good cricket, that’s exactly what the boys did. In T20 cricket, no one’s favourite. You got to respect the opposition. Tomorrow we turn up and do exactly what we did today,” he said before signing off.
On the match, India hunted down 179 with full three overs to spare, and the victory helped them to level the five-match series 2-2. The deciding fifth T20I will be played on Sunday.
