Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi marked many firsts when it released in 1999. The musical romantic drama, directed late Raj Kaushal, marked the debut of actors Dino Morea, Sanjay Suri and Twinkle Khanna’s ser Rinke Khanna. It was also the debut of playback singer Shaan and beginning of the iconic music duo Vishal and Shekhar. While the film couldn’t make a mark in its audience mind, the song“Musu Musu Haasi Deu” shot Dino Morea to fame, making him the heartthrob of Bollywood. His fandom was such that when he once went for the promotion of a film, his fans ripped off his denim jacket in excitement.
In a recent interview with Just Too Filmy, Dino Morea recalled the time when they launched the film and the kind of craze it created among the audience. He said, “That release and the kind of adulation we got at that time was phenomenal. I remember going doing a premiere in Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. I didn’t expect people to show up the way they showed up.”
“I remember, I walked out of the cinema in Kolkata and people ripped my jacket. It was a denim jacket. People were going nuts. It was more so because of the song Musu Musu Haasi. People loved it. Delhi was insane, Bangalore too because it is my hometown. I was in shock. I understood the reach of cinema.”

He said, “At that time, we could talk about being in relationships. We were covered so much for being in a relationship. It was all organic. There was no PR at that time, we didn’t do PR, it was pyaar. We didn’t call photographers to come and stand and wait and take a picture. None of that happened. It was just organic. It was not set up. That was the beauty of it.”

He shared, “Raaz cemented my foothold in the film industry. People would say, ‘okay, that’s a huge success. It’s kind of arrived.’ That gave me a lot of confidence. Raaz brought respect to horror films because before that there was nothing good in terms of horror. Raaz was primarily a love story which resonated with people around the world. That movie set me up in the industry. Suddenly the bigger stars started to congratulate me. I could see the difference.”
Dino Morea recently featured in the Netflix series The Royals starring Ishaan Khatter, Bhumi Pednekar, Nora Fatehi and Zeenat Aman, among others.
