ICC ODI rankings: Rohit Sharma rises to 2nd, Shubman Gill drops to 3rd while Virat Kohli stays put at 4th | Cricket News
Three Indian batters remain in the ICC men’s ODI rankings. Skipper Rohit Sharma has moved to the second top while Shubman Gill has slipped down one position from the last rankings to third. Meanwhile, talisman Virat Kohli retains his fourth spot.
In the recently concluded three-match ODI though the Indian team lost the series 2-0 the Indian skipper churned out 157 runs at an average of 52.33. Meanwhile, Pakan’s Babar Azam remains at the top of the rankings.
As per bowling, Kuldeep Yadav is in fourth position for India behind South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, Australia’s Josh Hazelwood and Adam Zampa. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is at the eighth spot and Mohammed Siraj has slipped to ninth place and is alongside New Zealand pacer Trent Boult.
Other Indian players in the rankings
Shreyas Iyer at 16th, while KL Rahul is placed 21st after dropping one spot.
Senior seamer Mohammed Shami is ranked 12th. The 33-year-old is currently rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru following an ankle surgery and is expected to be back for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Chennai and Kanpur next month.
Ravindra Jadeja remains the highest-placed Indian in the all-rounders’ section at 16th spot, while Hardik Pandya has dropped four places to 26th.
Washington Sundar, India’s highest wicket-taker during the Sri Lanka ODIs (5 wickets, 3 matches), has risen 10 places to the 87th spot.
And as team rankings go team India sits at the summit of the ODI rankings with 118 rating points, while Australia are second at 116, followed South Africa (112).
