ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 Qualifier: Points table, qualification scenarios for last spot | Cricket News

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifiers tournament is heading towards a close finish after hosts Pakan became the first team to secure one of the last two spots on Thursday.
Fatima Sana’s moved up to an unassailable lead of eight points, securing qualification with four wins in as many games. Pakan’s qualification confirmed that the tournament will be held in a hybrid model as they won’t be travelling to India for the tournament scheduled to start late September.
World Cup hosts India earned automatic qualification, while Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka earned tickets finishing in top six of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-’25 cycle.

However, three teams remain in contention to secure the last spot at the World Cup, with Bangladesh leading the race with six points ahead of their final clash against Pakan.
Scotland and West Indies, locked on four points currently, are the other teams in contention to sneak past Bangladesh should they drop their final against Pakan. The qualification could come down to a matter of Net Run Rate, should Scotland and West Indies win their final games, taking on Ireland and Thailand respectively. However, Bangladesh currently find themselves on that count too with a positive NRR.
The Indian Express had reported that the BCCI picked Thiruvananthapuram as one of the venues for the tournament, courtesy the hybrid model agreed upon between the Indian and Pakan cricket boards before the recent Champions Trophy earlier this year. None of the other shortled venues in India have immigration or visa facilities available, apart from Thiruvananthapuram.
