If Dhoni was RCB captain, they would have won IPL 3 times: Wasim Akram
Pakan icon Wasim Akram in a freewheeling chat lauded Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, saying that if Dhoni was the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, the franchise would have won at least 3 Indian Premier League (IPL) titles.
“RCB would have won 3 IPL trophies now if MS Dhoni was their captain. They have not won a single trophy until now. They have so much support. Also, they have the world’s top modern-era player Virat, but unfortunately they have not won. If Dhoni was in RCB, he would have helped them win the title,” Akram said in a conversation with Sportskeeda.
Speaking of Virat Kohli and RCB, they lost to Delhi Capitals 7 wickets on Saturday. Even though Kohli scored a half century and helped RCB post 181/4, it was chased down easily a rejuvenated DC in 16.4 overs, courtesy a blering 87 Philip Salt.
Needing to win every game from here on to have a shot at a play-off berth, Delhi’s overseas batters played fearlessly to gun down the total in 16.4 overs.
Besides Salt, David Warner (22 off 14), Mitchell Marsh (26 off 17) and Rilee Rossouw (29 not out off 21) produced timely cameos.
It was Delhi’s second consecutive win and they need to win their remaining four games while RCB suffered their fifth loss in 10 matches.
Dhoni’s Chennai, meanwhile, returned to winning ways after their 6-wicket win over Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians.
