‘I’m just going to stop answering these questions’: Ange Postecoglou on criticism of his playing style | Football News

Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou was in a sombre mood after his side were thrashed 6-3 Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, saying that he will stop answering questions about his playing style.
“You know what? I’m just going to stop answering these questions. If people can’t see the obvious I’m not going to point it out. Look, make of it what you want, yes we’re conceding goals,” he said in the post-match press conference.
“If you want to discount the fact we’re missing a goalkeeper, two centre-backs and a left-back as well and that hasn’t coincided with what we’re doing… I don’t know what to say anymore. I think people make up their minds in their own way. They either think what I’m doing is good or they don’t and that’s fine,” he added.
Postecoglou has been under-fire for his attacking style of play with experts pointing out the fact that the players’ propensity to press forward often leaves the defence at a disadvantage.
“I think I have been really patient the last 18 months sitting up here answering the same questions over and over again. If people want me to change my approach, it’s not going to change. We are doing it for a reason, we are doing it because we think it will help us to be successful,” he reiterated.
On Sunday, Liverpool strengthened their hold on the Premier League top spot with an extraordinary 6-3 victory at battered Tottenham after second-placed Chelsea were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw away to Everton on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah scored twice, as did Luis Diaz, while Alexis Mac Aller and Dominik Szoboszlai were also on target at bamboozled Spurs for Dutchman Arne Slot’s Liverpool side who head into Chrmas four points clear.

Chelsea could have gone into first place before Liverpool’s clash in north London but failed to make it nine straight wins in all competitions as Everton dug deep to earn a point at Goodison Park.
Liverpool have 39 points from 16 games with Chelsea on 35 having played a game more. Arsenal, who won 5-1 at Crystal Palace on Saturday, have 33 points from 17 games.
