Imran Khan in good health, say Adiala officials; Khawaja Asif says Pakan ex-PM has better food than in 5-star hotels | World News

The Adiala jail adminration on Wednesday rejected widespread rumours suggesting that former Pakan prime Miner Imran Khan had been shifted out of the facility. An official also said the Pakan tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder is in a healthy state and that he remains incarcerated at the Adiala jail. Pakan miner Khawaja Asif further said Imran Khan’s menu in jail comprised better food than those served at five-star hotels.
“There is no truth to claims about his transfer from Adiala jail,” a Rawalpindi prison official was quoted as saying Pakani media website Dawn. Officials further said Imran Khan was “perfectly healthy and getting all necessary medical care”.
Officials also dismissed speculation surrounding his health as “unfounded” and stressed that his health is being properly monitored. Khan has been in jail since August 2023 and is facing several cases, including corruption and terrorism charges, following his removal from office through the Opposition’s no-confidence vote in April 2022.
Imran Khan enjoying comforts in jail: Khawaja Asif
Defence Miner Khawaja Asif was quoted as saying Dawn Imran Khan was enjoying far more comfort in jail than he did during his own incarceration. “Look at the menu of the meals served to him — you won’t find such food even in a five-star hotel,” he was quoted.
Asif also claimed the PTI founder had access to television with the freedom to watch any channel he preferred. “He even has exercise equipment,” he said, comparing the arrangement to his own time in prison.
“We slept on cold floors, ate standard jail food, and managed with just two blankets in January with no hot water,” Asif recalled, adding that then-superintendent Asad Warraich had personally overseen the removal of the geyser from his cell.
The miner further alleged that the PTI founder had been provided a double bed and “a velvet mattress,” saying he should “len to his Washington Arena speech on the jail loudspeaker.”
