IND vs AUS: Australia’s ‘Jaddu’ Matt Kuhnemann gets his promised masterclass from Ravindra Jadeja
Matt Kuhnemann was nicknamed “Jaddu” his Queensland teammates after he ran through South Australia in a Sheffield Shield game in 2021.
On Monday, as soon as the fourth Test in Ahmedabad ended in a draw on Monday, the 26-year-old left-arm spinner received his masterclass from Ravindra Jadeja.
Kuhnemann a confessed fan of Jadeja, has requested the Indian all-rounder for some tips after making his debut in Delhi Test, to which the Indian star told him he’d reveal all once the series was concluded.
And Jadeja was a man of his word.
“It was probably about 15 minutes, he (Jadeja) was just giving me some awesome tips; we talked about everything,” Kuhnemann told AAP.

“Nathan Lyon helped organised it (the chat) as well.
“He (Jadeja) was really impressed with Todd (Murphy), ‘Gaz’ (Lyon) and myself so that was really cool to hear that from him.
“He gave me some good tips for the next time we’re in the subcontinent and some tips to go back home with as well.
“He was really nice and just said any time to reach out, and even sent me a message on Instagram, so that was pretty cool.”
Kuhnemann ultimately took nine wickets across three Tests, including a match-winning five for 16 in the Indore Test.

Kuhnemann, along with Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy formed a brilliant spin attack which was also praised Team India head coach Rahul Dravid. the trio bagged 45 wickets in the series.
In the post-match presentation, Dravid said: A lot of the guys were full of praise for the quality of spin they had to play which made the series win all that much more sweet. Some of the players were saying that since (Monty) Panesar and (Graeme) Swann, they haven’t played a quality spin attack or spells like this in the last ten years in these conditions.”
The 26-year-old, who was playing the Sheffield Shield before being drafted into the Test team ahead of the Delhi Test.
“The way that it happened, I wouldn’t change it for the world,” Kuhnemann said.
“Nathan Lyon took myself and Todd under his wing from the get go, he was pretty much like a big brother to us over here.
“I think we’re very lucky to have ‘Gaz’ and his experience to learn off.
“I’m ready to get back in the nets, get back in there after speaking to Jadeja.
“I’m really keen to tinker with a couple of things, trying to just keep improving my skills and play as much cricket as I can.”
