IND vs AUS: Pat Cummins reveals Australia playing XI for second Test in Adelaide | Cricket News
Australian skipper Pat Cummins on Thursday has confirmed that the hosts have only one change for the pink-ball Test in Adelaide starting on Friday which is Scott Boland replacing injured Josh Hazlewood.
“All last summer he was kind of geared up to go and no-one fell over. He’s happy with how it’s coming out, and his rhythm. As a captain, it’s pretty awesome for someone like Scotty to come straight in,” Cummins said on Boland.
Former Australian pacer Ryan Harris in fact thinks Boland will be a massive threat to India. “Scotty is really good with the pink ball. He’ll come in and test the Indian batters. He hits the right length, the ideal length in Australian conditions. He has got that nip-backer as well. He will be a massive threat for the Indian batters,” he said speaking to this publication.
Hazlewood injury update
“He’s really confident for the Gabba,” said Cummins of Hazlewood. “He had a good bowl yesterday [Wednesday] only like three quarters [pace]. It went beautifully.
“It’s probably the right call in hindsight. I think in previous years, we just kept bowling [him]. It’s probably turned that one-week injury into a three, four or five week injury, whereas this year it seems a little bit different.”
Hazlewood was Australia’s best bowler in the first innings of the Perth Test, taking 4 for 29 as India were bowled out for 150. The pacer was economical with 1 for 28 from 21 overs in the second innings.
Hazlewood was also one of Australia’s best the last time India played in Adelaide, taking 5 for 8 in five overs as India were bowled out for 36.
There were also speculations if Mitchell Marsh would be fit enough to bowl. However, Cummins said that Marsh is ready to chip in with bowl after refraining from bowling the nets and taking rest.
Australia XI: Nathan McSweeney, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland.
