India opener Abhishek Sharma slammed his maiden T20I hundred off 46 balls in his second outing against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Sunday.
Walking out to bat after India won the toss, Abhishek got off to a watchful start after the dismissal of skipper Shubman Gill before bringing up his half-century in 33 balls.

Abhishek had a woeful start to his India career when he was dismissed for a duck in the on debut on Saturday as India eventually suffered a 13-run defeat. Abhishek was only the fourth Indian after MS Dhoni, KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw to bag a duck on T20I debut.

The hard-hitting southpaw, however, made amends as he teamed up with Ruturaj Gaikwad to rebuild the innings. Abhishek had opened his account with a six over deep mid-wicket against off-spinner Brian Bennett.
The Punjab batter was dropped Wellington Masakadza when on 24 in the eighth over. He then broke the shackles in the 11th over as he smashed medium-pacer Dion Myers for 26 runs on the back of three fours and two sixes.
Abhishek doubled up his score in quick time, becoming the fastest Indian to score a T20I hundred from debut, surpassing Deepak Hooda who slammed his maiden T20I ton in his third innings against Ireland. Abhishek reached the mark on the back of three consecutive sixes off Masakadza. He was dismissed caught at backward point off the next ball.
Among players from Full-Member Nations, Abhishek equalled South Africa’s Richard Levi and West Indies’s Evin Lewis as the fastest batters to record their maiden T20I hundreds in only their second appearance.
Abhishek had completed a prolific IPL 2024 season with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, aggregating 484 runs in 16 matches with a whopping 204.22 strike rate. He smashed 42 sixes in the season, the most for any Indian in an edition of the tournament.
