‘If Dhoni didn’t get out, they could’ve scored maximum 130’: Virender Sehwag slams CSK captain, says dismissal vs KKR made no difference | Ipl News

Former India opener Virender Sehwag slammed MS Dhoni’s contribution with the bat during their massive defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, stating that the Chennai Super Kings captain could not have made a difference if he was not dismissed cheaply.
Dhoni demoted himself after KKR won the toss and opted to bowl before inflicting a precipitous collapse at Chepauk. With the spinners in play, Dhoni opted to slide down to No. 9 and walked in during the 15th over with CSK in disarray at 72 for seven.
Dhoni’s hopes to bail CSK out of trouble were short-lived as he was dismissed his nemesis, Sunil Narine, for one run off four deliveries.

In a post-match show after KKR’s thumping win, anchor Jatin Sapru asked Sehwag whether Dhoni could have ensured a better finish for CSK. Sehwag’s blunt riposte came in the negative.
“I don’t think so. If he didn’t get out, they could’ve scored a maximum of 130. KKR chased this target (104) down in 10.1 overs. We would be coming live at 11:30pm instead. That would’ve been the only difference,” Sehwag said.
CSK eventually tottered to 103 for nine in 20 overs before KKR waltzed through the chase eight wickets, handing the home side their biggest defeat balls to spare. CSK also bore the ignominy of losing five successive IPL matches for the first time in their hory, while also losing thrice in consecutive games at their Chepauk fortress.
