Fasten your seat-belts, athletics events get underway in Hangzhou on Friday and that usually means medal rush for India at the Asian Games. Race walkers, hammer throwers and shot putters are in action first. There are assured medals in squash, while tennis fans have a final to look forward to.
Indian shuttlers will be hoping to assure a place in the podium but have tasks of differing difficulties in front of them.
Boxing: Nikhat one step closer to podium
The two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen has been in fine form so far and she is one step away from reaching semifinals, which would assure her a medal. She’d want more, of course.
Squash: Medals assured
Saurav Ghosal and Co, Joshna Chinappa and Co will be both be in semifinals action on Friday, already assured medals having reached this far. A spot in the final at stake.
Shooting: More pol action
50m 3-Positions rifle event for the women was memorable, now it is over to the men to follow up. In 10m air pol, Esha Singh will be back in action again after her sliver in the 25m event. Four more medal events in shooting on Friday.
Tennis: Men’s doubles final (7:30 am)
India’s good record in men’s doubles at Asiad extended as R Ramkumar and Saketh Myneni moved into the final in men’s doubles.
