India thoroughly deserve the T20 World Cup trophy: Shoaib Akhtar | Cricket News

Former Pakan pacer Shoaib Akhtar said on Saturday that while his heart wants South Africa to win the T20 World Cup final but he also feels that India thoroughly deserve to win the trophy.
“My heart also says that South Africa should win (the World Cup). They are playing the final for the first time, having failed to reach the summit clash even with their name value. The whole world wants the South Africans to win the final. For South Africa to win the final, they have to face a big team whose name is India. If you ask me, India hasn’t won a World Cup since 2007 so they have also had a long run without the trophy. So India thoroughly deserve the trophy,” Akhtar said from his X account.
On Friday, Akhtar had also praised Rohit Sharma and led out reasons why he thought India deserved the trophy. “He is a selfless captain, plays for the team, and is a complete batter,” Pakan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar had said speaking on his YouTube channel.

“Rohit Sharma has repeatedly said he wants to make an impact and win the trophy and so, deserves to win the cup. He is a big player, and it should end on a big note,” Akhtar added.

India are unbeaten like South Africa in the current tournament. While the former are playing their third final (2007,2014) the latter is playing their first T20 World Cup final. While the bowling attacks of both teams have performed well it is the batting line-ups that have blown hot and cold which the teams would be hoping will come good on Saturday.
