India vs England 2nd Test Playing XI: Rajat Patidar to make his debut, Washington Sundar to replace Ravindra Jadeja and toss-up between Siraj and Kuldeep | Cricket News

IND vs ENG 2nd Test Squad: India after losing the first Test will look to level the five-match Test series winning the second Test starting on Friday at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Though India was in a dominant position in the first innings with a lead of 190 runs they managed to shoot themselves in the foot courtesy of a sublime 196 from Ollie Pope.
Not only did India lose the Test but to add salt to the wound two of the key players Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul got injured and are ruled out for the second Test. As per England, Jack Leach who played with an injury through the first Test is now ruled out as well so they have to tinker with their winning combination as well.
Let us have a look at the probable XIs of both sides
Patidar sets to make his debut
The Madhya Pradesh middle-order batter is all set to replace KL Rahul. Patidar is gifted with timing and can play long innings as well. Patidar was also seen sweeping the likes of Axar Patel and Ravi Ashwin in the practice sessions ahead of the game. The 29-year-old in first-class cricket has made 4000 runs at an average of 45.97 with 12 centuries and 22 half-centuries.

Washington Sundar to replace Ravindra Jadeja
Filling the hole left Jadeja will be tough for the Indian side but they do have the option of Sundar who is efficient both with the bat and ball. His 62 at Gabba coming down the order stitching a valuable partnership with Shardul Thakur indicated not only he has sound technique but also a solid temperament. Sundar also scored a good-looking 85 in the first Test in Chennai in the last India vs England series in 2021.
Toss-up between Siraj and Kuldeep
Mohammed Siraj did not have much to do in the Hyderabad Test hence we might see Kuldeep Yadav come into the side in place of him. The 29-year-old will give the extra dimension of left-arm-wr spin to the bowling arsenal. With England batters opting sweeping and reverse sweeping as the mode of attack against spin Kuldeep might be an ideal candidate to counter it.
India predicted XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rajat Patidar, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (wk), Washington Sundar, R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav.
England predicted XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (c), Ben Foakes, Rehan Ahmed, Tom Hartley, James Anderson, Shoaib Bashir.
