India vs England 4th Test Day 4: Highlights

India had an unusual third day where the English players somehow managed to stand firm and will be looking forward to setting a considerate target for India. India will be playing their second innings on the fourth day after England is done with their second innings. India will have to push hard against England in order to survive in the Test series.

Here are the highlights from Day 4:

# India need 119 runs to win. Kohli’s wicket has been a blow for India but the team still has batsmen like Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin. India have to now stick at the crease for long and not look for finishing the match off quickly.

# WICKET!! Moeen takes the much-needed wicket for England. Kohli sent-off while he started settling. A major blow for India.

# Kohli-Rahane come up with 100-run partnership and Rahane now moving towards his half-century. India staying strong and the target is not looking too far.

# Kohli seems to be handling the Indian ship here as he completes half-century. Kohli 51 off 115 balls.

# India completes 100 runs. Kohli and Rahane also come up with a partnership of 82 runs off 207 balls. While Kohli is slowly nearing his half-century, Rahane is not lagging behind. The Indian side is now seeing stability and if they keep on playing like this, the target is not far.

# Kohli is playing with more confidence now. He even makes space to swiftly send the ball for boundaries. Meanwhile, England pacers Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid have not been able to get a wicket till now. Adil is in his 4th over while Moeen has been on for 12 overs now.

# Kohli becomes the Indian captain with most runs in an away series with 512 runs (still playing). Rahul Dravid scored 496 runs in 2006 against West Indies.

# Crazy moment here when Rahane was given lbw on Curran’s delivery but Skipper kohli asks for a review and the impact was outside off and hence Rahane was not out. Rahane stays.

# England lose a review. Moeen Ali was bowling to Kohli and England reviews for lbw. Umpire’s decision remains and Kohli still at the crease.

England lead by 223 runs

England 2nd innings: 260/8 (Jos Buttler 69, Joe Root 48/ Mohammed Shami 3/53)

India 1st innings: 273/10 (Cheteshwar Pujara 132*, Virat Kohli 46)

England 1st innings: 246/10 (Sam Curran 78, Moeen Ali 40/ Jasprit Bumrah 3/46)

English players on Day 3 managed to survive against Indian pacers. Ishant Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami showed their skills and grabbed wickets to push England down.

India, however, could not manage to completely outplay England and the English players took India by surprise with their consistent performance in throughout the match. It was a team’s effort from England’s side which helped them survive against Indian pacers.

England were in trouble at 122 for 5 when Joe Root was run out for 48. The lead was not even 100 runs but it was Buttler, who took the attack back to the opposition camp as Ravichandran Ashwin (35-7-78-1) despite being economical was not half as effective as Moeen Ali.

India will now have to show clinical performance in order to win the match and survive in the series.
